On-site radio has increasingly been seen by retailers as a powerful sales tool, but few external networks currently exist. A West Midlands based company planned to create a unique new radio network providing retail shopping centres with "in-store" music and advertising. The directors needed to investigate their full market potential for the new service and effectively market the service to potential advertisers.

As part of a comprehensive sales and marketing plan, VC Consulting were able to directly introduce the service to all of the principle Media Agencies in the UK, including all of the specialist buyers of Radio Air-time. A direct mail campaign was designed and executed in parallel to introduce the new service to 800 marketing staff at the countries leading branded goods companies, and this was followed up by a telemarketing campaign to the same individuals.

On completion of the project the company was in direct negotiation with Coca Cola, The National Lottery and Cadbury in addition to many other household names, and had a firm basis on which to base future projections of income and cash-flow.

IT and Business Services

A new company, founded by specialists from the document management and computing sectors, identified a rapidly growing market for out-sourced document scanning and archiving services.

With excellent market knowledge the director’s key need was to raise additional finance to fund start-up and early trading. It was agreed that VC Consulting should produce a detailed Business Plan which would be suitable for supporting an application for start up finance.

To provide support of the Sales Forecast for the business and to investigate future growth prospects, VC Consulting staff investigated the document scanning opportunities within the West Midlands market using direct marketing techniques.

Based on the results of the customer research, VC Consulting was able to create a detailed projection of likely sales, which were then incorporated into the required Business Plan. In addition, VC staff were also able to pass on to the client three live sales enquiries from organisations taking part in the research.

On completion of the project the client was in contract negotiations with all three of the prospects identified, and had raised the £150,000 they required to commence trading by a mixture of venture capital and bank finance.
